Who has gutters on your coop

We have tons of pvc piping so maybe I'll do that. I saved out a few sections to make a hopper feeder. That way I'll that I will need to do is buy some L shaped pieces and caps.

I am in the home construction/remodeling business and recently a customer needed new gutters on their home.....I saved the old ones and put them on my henhouse and my gambrel barn. Not a thing wrong with them either......bright white, free and functional....perfect for me!

I plan on ripping a 4" PVC pipe down in half and using it as a gutter, supported by decorative wood under bracing. At the end, most likely just going to use a rain chain to channel the water.

I am mainly using my gutters to harvest water. Our water bill keeps going up every 3 months for instance for the same water usage give or take a bit for my house was 79 and change then the next one was 84 and change for less usage then the last one was 98 and change for even less usage. So I'm just trying to the responsible thing and utilize my rain water.

My coop is going to be about a 1/3 sand, 1/3 dirt, and 1/3 small pea pebbles. Not to mention the area doesn't get muddy anyways. So mud I don't think will be an issue.

Does anyone know any websites that will show me examples of homemade pvc gutters?

It's sad to even have to say this, but make sure that rainwater harvesting isn't illegal where you live. There aren't many places, but some have made laws against collecting any water that falls on your property.

They usually claim it's to protect groundwater supplies, but the only real reason is to make sure you keep paying for your water. I may be an environmentalist, but even I know that collecting a little rain water isn't going to cause a drought.

Just remembered I have some extra drainage pipe laying around that I could use, too... But for now, other stuff for me to plan out than gutters.. Still need to get the roof built.

Easiest thing is to use the same gutters you'd use for your house, installed the same way.
That is what we did and its worked great. We use a 55 gallon plastic barrel to collect the water.

Utah has a law banning rain barrels. Its says all rain water belongs to the state of Utah.

To the best of my knowledge Salt Lake City, UT and the entire state of Colorado are the most known places where it is flat out illegal to collect rainwater. I've hear reports also that these laws are often enacted where there are severe droughts.

You'd think they would encourage rainwater harvesting, but instead they want every little drop to enter the water systems. That way industry can bottle it up and charge a fortune for it.
