I will second the concern that you did not call 911 when someone took a ladder over to your fence after ringing the doorbell and no one answering. This is not a laughable matter; it is a serious concern. Could have been a burgler, a rapist, or any number of unsavory people. It was almost certainly NOT any form of law enforcement (including animal control. They would have had on uniforms and placed a notice on your door that included a copy of a search warrant or a citation.

OK, now we're all concerned for you and your safety. Please don't tell us any details about you personaly. You need to know that this is serious. In my opinion you must phone the police immediately and tell them of this occourance.
