Who is getting eggs?

Maybe the other more experienced incubators will chime in, but I'd think it would be best to add eggs every 5 days instead of as they are laid.

I set eggs once a week last year, 3 - 5 at a time. We had hatching every weekend for most of June & July and some of Aug. I will not do it that way again. Too many chicks of different sizes, in too many different pens and no vacation for me.

This year I will do only 1 or 2 larger batches, less playing "musical chicks" and maybe I'll get to go to the beach with everyone else! PS. I let some sit for 12 days last year and they hatched just fine, they were turned 2x daily while sitting.

From experience I'd say as long as you mark the eggs and not 3 days before or after lockdown.

Here's a first for me, it's an egg (duck) with the air cell at the wrong end! It's will be interesting to see how it hatches.

it set for 24 hours before you set it small end down. I have hatched duck eggs before and they require lots of humidity!

I had 1 Pea egg like that last year, I can't remember if it was shipped or one of mine. It quit early, how far along is yours? I also had the most amazingly see thru pea egg, it was so much clearer than all the others, you could see everything that was going on in there. I lost that one about 2 days before it was due to hatch, no idea why. Almost seems like any little difference, no matter how innocuous it seems, can be bad news.

Quote: The first picture was taken 3-11 and the second was 3-18. I checked it yesterday and it's still moving. It's under a hen and my best guess is that it's due around 4-7. I'll see if I can get an updated picture.

FWIW, it's a Muscovy egg and they take 35 days.
