Who is ordering from Murray McMurray ?

It's been some years since last I ordered from McMurray, but I was happy with what I got.

Earlier today I put in an order with them for 68 birds. Mostly White Leghorn pullets, but a handful of WL cockerels and a few Brown Leghorn males.

My hubby ordered me 101 chicks from them earlier this week. I am getting the Brown egg layer assortment. So for me, anything is fine as long as it's female. I did order 1 roo, a Silver-Laced Wyandotte (a gift for my mom). If I get a few roos, thats ok too, cause I can always toss em in with the meat birds and eat em.
I have a friend who has ordered from McMurrays often, and has nothing but good to say about the customer service. They always include and extra bird or two. I am anxious to see what my exotic chick will be...even if it's a roo.

Glad to see so many good reports. I just placed my first order (from any hatchery ) and am concerned about the weather in Iowa. Supposed to ship the first week of Feburary to Fla. I am trusting that they know their bis. I'm getting a mixed herd! Australorps and orpingtons mostly, with a few others just for fun. .......stan

I have 26 chicks coming the end of January:

Golden Laced Wyandottes
Blue Laced Red wyandottes
Silver Laced wyandottes
White Wyandottes
Turkens
Buff Orpingtons
Silver Penciled Rock
and 1 Partridge Rock cockerel

They are the only hatchery I ever use. I haven't had any problems with them.

They ship 10,000 chicks a week, so I assure you they have far more good experiences, and repeat customers, than you seem to think. I know of so many people who order from them every year, some ordering over 1000 chicks during a season, and wouldnt do it if there was anything other than good experiences. But you dont hear about them, only the very few that have problems.

Ive ordered from them probably 5 or 6 times in the last 20 years, and was very satisfied. Might have been a few chicks that didnt survive, or died after arriving, but I attribute that to shipping. Its tough on them. If one person handles the box roughly, they can be injured.

In August I ordered 24 Ameraucana pullets and 2 roosters. I split the order with a neighbor - each getting 12 hens and 1 rooster. Wrong. He got 12 hens and 1 rooster. I got 6 hens and 6 roosters. I think I am due a refund as now I have to find a home for 5 roosters. Not happy...

I have an order in for the second week of March:

2 BR
8 RS
8 BA
4 WL
4 BO

and 3 meaties-Cornish X. My first attempt at raising meaties.

I have ordered from them before and been very satisfied with the promptness, accuracy, and heath of the chicks.

My experiences with Murray Mc Murray have all been excellent. In fact one year quite a long time ago i split an order for 100 chicks with a friend, he wanted 25, i wanted 75...the order got held up in a snowstorm and chicks arrived staggering around, dehydrated, with a few dead. I immediately called and they said call back with a total of the dead in a few days. i worked hard nursing them with electrolyte and when i called back and expressed disappointment that they were not doing that well, the lady there said, you know what, we are going to replace your entire order. They were good to thier word and i recieved a full new order of healthy chicks. needless to say between the ones that survived from the orig shipment and the new shipment, i was overwhelmed and overrun with chickens.. thier customer service has always been top shelf. I highly recommend them for all your poultry needs.

well i am 66 yrs. old over the last 40 yrs. i have ordered at least 15 times . from 25 to 75 chicks at a time with great shipments. just about every time my chicks would get here sunday morning. the post office would call me to let me know they had arrived. i would pick them up within 20 min. when i ordered so many pullets and so many roosters. they were on the money.my dad ordered from them when i was growing up never a problem. the last 5 yrs i have ordered from breeders. paid alot more for them and still had to cull from them. like pauls poultry they raise about 200 a yr. and cull down to the best 6 or 8. i ordered 20 blrw and culled down to best 6 hens and 2 roosters. i think if you order 25 from a hatchery and cull you will have some really nice birds also if i were to order any more chicks i would not think twice i would order from murry mcmurry again in a heart beat.

I have ordered from Murray McMurray 3 times before and was very satisfied every time. The chicks were healthy, customer services is always good.
