Who is pipping and waiting right now??

Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain :

But will he ship chicks? I am having a devil of a time with shipped eggs...

Sorry I missed this post! He shipped me some but delivery took two days and I lost some of them. I wound up with one dorking and some "packing peanuts" and one hamburg. Priorty mail is just not what it used to be.

It seems like I am always pipping and waiting. LOL I have a hatch in progress with 28 buff orps, 2 lavender orp crosses and 20 or so araucana. Gosh, I keep losing count on these hatches. Well, it's something like that anyways.

2 buff orps babies so far and lots of pips.

Good luck everyone!

Still only one of 10 has piped and he's hasn't made much leeway. Just a small hole and 2 small pieces of attached shell. Peeping is less and weaker...piped about 11 this morning...does it always take this long? More importantly, is he going to make it?

Bummer... I'm sorry. :aww Yeah, I contacted him, but he wasn't in the position to send any at this time. I have some roos coming next week from MMH - Kate will have her choice of suitors.

I'll just be patient and wait for my order from Ideal next spring.

(Did I just say I'll be patient?!?

)

56 quail out of 111 eggs (I found another cracked one that never stood a chance.) 50% is an excellent hatch rate for ME.

The feed store is down for 25 of them... now I need to find homes for the others.

Here is the debut of my first healthy blue orp. I assume the color will be blue? It is light gray with white down the front. Very loud waiting for siblings. Still no pips from the other five eggs and it is day 21 but temps were a bit low...98-99+ so I am praying these others make it. Last time I candled them...day 14 they were doing great.

Today is the day on my Welsummers - 11 of them - not a pip - did the power outage get them or just delay them? They traveled from UT to TN - one was broken -scrambled- the PO was rough on them. I couldn't candle them. I will give them until Wednesday....sigh......

]Hi first timer here needing some advice. Not sure if this is the right bit for this post?

1st Gosling has successfully hatched and is drying out nicely. Was very active but very large so peeled a little shell off to help at the end as he/she had done most of the work but was very wedged. (After reading lots of posts on this site!). That one is almost dry and shuffling roundthe incubator.

2nd on pipped this morning about 6am ( now 4pm) with a good hole but the membrane inside looked gooey with a little bit stuck to its beak (now gone) but now it looks thick brown and almost chystalised and is a lot thicker than the other one who had a very thin membrane just no room to move. It is day 28 and I have popped a cloth in the still air incubator and have been spraying them with warm water.

The brown membrane seems to be in the way as it is very near the beak and thick.

Should the membrane be like this the poor gosling is cheeping and trying hard to get out. Does it need to be softened or dried out more? Im confused now?!

Any advice greatly appreciated
