Who is pipping and waiting right now??

I ended up with 3 chicks out of 14 eggs that I bought, 4 out of 4 on my own eggs but had to cull one...hip issues that could not be fixed. My first hatch, it was so very exciting!!! I ended up getting up every couple of hours so I could catch some chicks coming out of the egg... sent the tape to Germany so my grandkids could see chicks being hatched. Can't wait till they see it!

I used 2 paper towels on the top of the water tray, added 3 opened maxi pads on top of that, then covered with 2 paper towels. Damped the pads, then put a piece of airline tubing that I had poked holes into that would make contact with the paper towels and secured them with a clothes pin at each end. Think soaker hose. The rest of the non punctured tube I ran up and out of the cutout for the egg turner in the corner. Used a syringe without needle to push water into the tube and down to the maxi pad area when needed. Was able to keep the humidity at 70% even with the plugs out and room humidity @ 20%.

This thread has been very helpful.... I'm at day 18 and getting really eggcited!

Eggs are out of the turner and in cartons... From Jodi I've got 5 BOs, 14 Marans from Bev Davis, and I'm experimenting/trying to hatch a few Araucanas from Jodi... they are tricky.

My temps and humidity have been on target so far. Now at day 18 I'm upping the humidity to 75%... still getting there.

Saturday is the day and I'm jumping out of my skin waiting.

five were hatched when I left home, most of the others were pipped, I think all but 2 were pipped, and the 2 were in darker corners so I couldn't see.
