Who is pipping and waiting right now??

I hear chirping from the incubator! tonight/tomorrow is hatch day,
I have blue, green and brown eggs in there from Susan in GA and Nancy in FL
I am so excited. I have to go check the bator again.
I don't have a humidity gauge, just a cup of water in there the entire 3 weeks. Maybe I should add a wet washcloth.?

I need lots of information on chirping from the egg. I have been told so many things and I cannot find anything in the books.

I had chirping yesterday @ 10:30 AM. I have heard nothing since. Today is day 21. These are Silkie eggs so they are small. Heat is 98-101, and the humidity is 65-72.

I am not one for opening the egg. If an egg were already pipped , I would then make a decision to intervene or not. What experience do you all have with this waiting?

I think I am in for a broken heart.

Ladyhawke, just leave it be. If it doesn't make it out of the shell, there's usually a good reason for it. The chirping, as I understand it, means that the chick has pipped into the airsac. It's probably resting, and will be pipping soon to get out of the shell. Give it time.

Even if the chirping was yesterday? I haven't heard anything since. That is what is worrying me.

Yes, even then. If you can do it quickly, you could candle really quick to see if you see any movement, but I would give it until tomorrow before doing anything. It's hard to wait, I know...

Thank you Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain.

Talking with everyone and reading all of the information is wonderful. I don’t feel like I am just a “nut”.

There are other nuts here too, and you are all wonderful.

We're all just a mixed bag of nuts.

Good, wholesome nuts, though... just to clarify.

So what do you think? Silkie/game or Sultan/game.
I'm trying to get a closer look at the chicks feet and that should tell the tell.
