Well, the last chick hatched, giving a grand total of seven out of original 12 eggs. Not great, but maybe I can do better next time. They are beautiful, though!

WooHoo, 3 baby black cochins and 3 more pipping!

I got these eggs from Feathers Acres and have been going crazy waiting for them to hatch, my downstairs bathroom has been converted to incubating/brooding room and is all full of peeping sounds today!

just check, two had pipped the wrong end up side down in cartn. one was doa and one i took out and laid its side.
back to work to take the kiddies home, hope they do something while i am gone. good luck to everyone.

I think new baby is not well. Left for awhile and came home to find one of the older chicks, in the brooder, had jumped in to the tray with baby and I think they had been pecking him. Bright green poo in one spot. Put him back in incubator for awhile to see if he/she will pull through. Wakes up cheeping like crazy, then back to rest for a bit... One wing does not look right and and toes still curled. I am concerned.

Mine wake up and chirp alot as well. I put a washcloth in with them since it is softer than the hard plastic they are on. I also touch them to let them know that they are not alone. It seems to help. At this age they sleep alot.

The green poo is normal, I think. It seems like most if not all of my chicks do that. I wouldn't worry about it waking up and cheeping. If it were cheeping nonstop, then it would be a problem. Give it a stuffed animal or towel to cuddle with, and maybe a mirror so it thinks it has company. How old are the other babies? You might be able to put the new one with them, once it is moving around pretty good (like 1-2 days).

It was getting progressively weaker, wouldn't eat or drink, slept almost all the time. It hardly ever peeped. I think I'm turning my bator off once the other 2 eggs in there either hatch or die. I have lost too many eggs this last month, and I have no idea what the problem is.
