Day 20 here...we had one hatch out over night. Hoping the other 10 will do the same today or tomorrow as that is the 21st day!
This is a silkie mixed with something....a little half breed!

I've got one Phoenix out. I don't see anything going on with the others yet. I've got duck eggs in there along with the chickens and a few turkey. Started the chicken 5 days later so I may have to go the distance with this hatch.

All are shipped eggs and I was only able to weed out 4 nothings. Incubator is pretty full. I need to get a better candler than my mini mag. After the first 10 days I go uncertain.

Think I need to find something to do on the far side of the property so I don't touch. I keep cocking my ear to the bator hoping hear other voices. The phoenix may wake them up. It seems to be a strong little thing.

Duck eggs are Cayugas and Runners.

Set the chickens April fools days so I'd remember better.

Congratulations to everyone hatching and good luck to those still waiting. I'm on day 20 with 14 Welsummer eggs. I'm sitting upstairs on the puter surfing BYC to keep me from being downstairs with my nose on the bator window.

I see another chicken pip.

One more cup of coffee and I'm heading out back. Plenty to do. I had over 4 feet of snow on the ground until 2 weeks ago. The horse manure I couldn't get to in the pasture is incredible. The horses had these little single file paths everywhere and now I've got lines of manure insulating ice so they stick up 2 feet high across the grass where their trails through the snow were.

Was a rough winter. We broke a record held since 1875.
I have this huge compost tumbler. The thing was unseen all winter. Realized yesterday that the handle is at my nose height in a resting position. I couldn't see it all winter.

I flooded twice, I had a mink. I need these peeps! Kind of reassures me spring is finally here. Send good vibes to those egg babies!

I've got two babies now, I noticed one more zipping out.

Thanks Miss Prissy

Edited to add that right after I posted I looked and there were three. I had to come to work, so hopefully I won't miss out on all of them hatching.

Day 27 and the turkey that was tapping yesterday hatched overnight! 4 turkey eggs to go. This one was a day early.
I have 2 dozen turkey eggs coming in the mail. So I guess I timed it right. I'm glad I did this experimental run first. I will be less anxious about the big batch I will be hatching.

This was a rough winter. I'll bet your glad it is over. I'm sure your horses are too. It was bad up by Lake Erie here in Ohio too. I'm still clearing up pine branches from the ice storm/blizzard we were hit with in March. Hello Spring!
