Who is with me?

This morning started day 21, and I've got 4 of my 14 eggs pipping so far. My two year old is glued to the bator window with me. I hate the waiting on day 21, especially from pip to zip.

Go chickies go!!!!!

These are all EE mixes. The hens are SF's and one hen is a buff brahma Brahma, and the roo was an EE. (I say was, because he was an evil toddler flogging EE...let's hope the chicks don't inherit that trait.)

I'm hoping for 5 toed, puffy cheeked, bearded babies! And I think they will be olive eggers?

By the way, thanks you WWD. I am going to be watching and waiting and will use your method if necessary (did I spell that right?).

fingers crossed for my RGP.

My pair are still alive, so I remain hopeful and watchful... Luck with yours. LOL of course I had a hen go broody today... It really will never end.

You mean babies that look like this:

OMG I hope they look like that. I will die of cute overload!

The first chick to pip now has a little hole and it's sitting there with the beak poking out. It's not zipping, I'm not sure what to do. I am dying to help it, but I'm afraid to open the bator. It's an SF/EE mix chick.

Okay how long has it been pipped from the shell? I will check back often and help if I can, as long as the baby is not coming out backwards, we may be okay.

Now you can try my way, which you have to wet the baby often, or WWDs way, which seems a little less stressful.

WWDs way is posted on the previous page.

Good luck and I will be back shortly.

The chick is still alive and has its beak poking in and out, still doesn't seem like it wants to zip. I was watching it with a flashlight, and it's eating something inside the shell!?! It rests for a little while and then nibbles and eats something around the inside edges of the shell, then pokes its beak out, then rests.

I'll look around and see what these methods are. I'm scared to open the bator too much, I have other eggs that have pipped and not done anything yet and most of the eggs haven't pipped at all yet. This is stressful!

I reached in a gently knocked off a tiny piece of hanging shell that the chick had cracked loose in its pip. This is how it looks, it's like it can't move its beak to peck anymore. Poor thing seems stuck. What do you think?
