Well, tonight I candled for the last time, until after the 7th. Everyone due to hatch between the 7th and the 9th are alive and kicking, except 1 Guinea egg which I could not tell, due to the egg being brown and white.
I lost I SZ and 1 BA and I have 1 egg that looks like there may be 2 babies in it. I will know more when I candle again. My peafowl that is due on the 14th is doing great, I am so excited.
I have a friend down the road that told me the best way to hatch the peafowl is with a broody. HAHAHA I have hatched a lot of eggs from my hens and so have 2 of my friends and my hens have hatched 3 out of 36+ that I have left them and only 1 baby survived. It survived because I took it and brought it in the house. The other to that hatched disappeared, as for the others, they spoiled. No way am I going to trust them sitting on my peafowl egg.
My chicken coop is still open on 1 and 1/2 sides. Of course when you think you are getting somewhere, here comes the rain.
I pray everyone survives one more night. If God gives me that, tomorrow they will be completely safe again.
So I am collecting eggs and going to hatch one more incubator full. I told hubby I am hatching a few more to make up the ones (about 10) that I lost. I figure if I hatch about 40, it will be just about right.
You never know what might happen between now and then. I am just glad you all are so understanding.
