Hi everyone!
So I have a mixed flock of 2 red sex link hens (about 4 years old), a 6 month old Ameracauna rooster, and a 6 month old Welsummer hen. My rooster's comb and wattle are very bright red and though he hasn't been crowing, he's definitely started to assert his dominance (at least over the Welsummer who he was hatched with). My two red sex links, although were excellent layers in the past) have had a steady decline as they've gotten older (which I know is to be expected) and then I haven't gotten a single egg out of them since the fall (again not totally abnormal but they've laid throughout the winter before). Our Welsummer hasn't laid ANYTHING that I know of, though her comb and wattle are also a nice red. About a week ago, we FINALLY started getting eggs again and I'm trying to figure out who laid them! They're a medium brown with some darker spots (but are not calcium spots which we've had from the older girls before) and are an average medium-large egg size. I originally thought it was the older girls because it was full-sized (not pullet small) but today I got two eggs and the lightest one is DEFINITELY an older girl because I've seen them lay eggs like this before. SO what do you guys think? Are these both the older girls or one older girl and one Bonnie egg (the Welsummer hen)? Thanks!!
