Who Loves Barred Plymouth Rocks?

I’m new to chickens but I have six 4 week olds and by far my favorite and most sweet and smart chick is the barred rock “Patsy.” 🥰

Hi, I'm new here. Who loves Barred Plymouth Rocks besides me?
Welcome to BYC! :frow

I do love Rocks.. and thought barred was the coolest when I first started keeping chickens (half my family is convicts). I only have a single white one in my flock right now. (named Yuki, which is Japanese for snow). I have considered breeding the Partridge color and think that's also pretty.

Rocks most often head my (mixed, pure breed) flocks.. with firm confidence but not excessive unruly pecking.

Some are great mothers without being excessively broody.. far surpassing Silkie's in skill and ability! Bessy (pictured below) hatched and raised 9 babies and never left a single one behind (unlike the Marans ladies who would run their babies ragged).

Imagine my surprise the first time I saw them chicks being shuttled around on their mum's back! :love

I've not yet had any (Rock) cockerels or roosters to experience their demeanor in comparison to the ladies or other breed roosters. All have been hatchery sourced so far, and my Pika was head lady out of 82 birds (including boys, her lead man was FBCM and also very stable attitude).. she did take almost a year off from laying and learned to crow some. (not relevant to molting, nutrition, daylight, etc) before eventually returning to lay.

I had some cute short videos to share.. but computer illiteracy prevents me from posting. Still, thanks for sharing and letting me share! :wee
