Who the Duck?!?

Bread is not a good diet so till he is back in shape I would offer bread.

We had the buns out feeding them as treats to our chickens when he showed up. Once he was busy eating the bred I quickly ran and grabbed a bowl full of non medicated chick grower for him to eat and a container of water because he couldn't figure out the waterer.

'Fraid not, they're just too heavy. I agree that this guy seems to be a bit lost, especially if he was as hungry as he was! Do you have plans to keep him or are you going to try and find the owner?

I will ask our closest neighbour but if he isn't theirs I will just try and convince him to stay. He is a cutie.

But in the wild Cayugas fly what's the difference between wild and domesticated Cayugas?

Since he seems to feel at home there maybe no convincing to it. Please update on how he is doing.

I am thinking he is happy he has claimed the long grass under our apple tree as his hangout and is happily eating drinking and lying down to rest practically on top of his food bowl. When I go out he comes closer to see what I am doing then when I head toward him and his bowl he walks away with his mouth wide open and his head up in the air but doesn't go more then a few feet away. As soon as I walked away he went straight back to his bowl and layed back down right away.
400

I am guessing he is a boy. He has cleaned himself up a bit since he waddled into my yard so is already looking better.

If you can find him something to take a bath in that would be great, a large platic bin or tub or kiddy pool that's what most of us use. he is gorgeous. Welcome to the duck world, now to find him a girl friend. lol

He has a metal band on his leg which makes me think he might have an owner who will actually miss him somewhere. If we don't find his owner tonight I will give him my daughter kiddy pool until we figure out either where he came from or what we are doing with him.

Well, best of luck with that...he doesn't look fullbred Cayuga, judging by his dull back feathers, although that could just be from malnutrition or something. I've never owned Cayugas so forgive my ignorance. If you can find his owner, awesome! But if he's traveled a long way and there's no contact info on his band then I dunno how you'll accomplish it. :/

If you can make sure the band isn't cutting into his leg because sometimes they can cause great discomfort and infection too.
