Who the Duck?!?

Hmmm by the time Hubby got back from town Howard was gone...I don't know if he is hiding in the long grass sleeping or if he only came for a visit and a bowl of chick grower(which he inhaled) then went home or wandered farther down the fields...or if the neighbour came looking for him and grabbed him.

Well we didn't see Howard Thursday night, then last night we kept hearing rustling in the long grass but saw nothing. This morning I looked and listened and saw and heard nothing.
Hubby came home from milking for someone and he was in one of the chicken coops that is beside the long grass.

If you really like Howard the duck then please ask the neighbors if you can have him so you can put him in secure housing before something eats him. it's inevitable you know something will get him eventually.

We have stopped at the neighbour's house several times to try and talk to them about Howard but they never seem to be home. He comes over twice a week or so and eats a cup and a half or so of pellets then if it is early in the day he heads home. If it is later in the day we put him in a predator safe pen overnight and turn him loose again in the morning and after a second feeding he heads home. Tomorrow we are getting a whole flock of muscovy ducks for free and we are going to ask the neighbour's if they want a young female to put with Howard to hopefully stop his wandering.

If the neighbor lets us have Howard I would be thrilled but I think they will probably take the offer from us of a free muscovy to go with him and keep him themselves.

Look forward to pics, and maybe you can enlighten Howards owners on keeping their ducks secure, it's amazing Howard hasn't been eaten, but honestly it's just a matter of time.

Hubby is on his way with a borrowed truck to get the ducks. All we know is that they are muscoveys we dont know their ages or anything so Hubby is grabbing a bunch of bird crates so no matter what size they are they won't be crowded.

So the person we were suppose to get the ducks from suddenly stopped responding and we can't find their home so no duckies for us :(
