Okay originally we thought these were going to be Pekin. But I got them today and the are definately NOT Pekin. They are a cream color with buff feathers coming in. Their bills are a tan color. I'm not sure, but I'm thinking they are Saxony. If this is an odd choice let me know. I have no clue. The person I got them from ordered a "barnyard special." I don't know what hatchery she ordered from either. She has no clue what she got. They look almost identical to the 4 week olds in the pic on feathersite.com. They too are about 4 weeks old. I am so excited, something new. Yeah!!

17 eggs and it's looking like NOTHING!!!! My husband will not be please. He got a little mad that we spent the money on eggs for my first hatch and didn't get anything from it. Then because we didn't get anything to hatch the first time he got a little mad I bought more. IDK what to do. My temps and humidity have been perfect and it just makes no since. He's def not going to let me buy more now! Atleast not for a while.

vkp, what does your temp. meter look like? Mine I found out was off 8%, so I was really sitting alot higher on humidity than I was suppose to. Did you test it? I did mine AFTER my 17 eggs that didnt hatch.

This one is mine:

Yeah I already know about the crappy Wal-mart hydro/thermo. I have one EXACTLY like yours. So I bought an old fashon mercury thermo/hydo. I steady at 100 degrees and 50ish hydro. I think the fact the woman said the parents were young and this is thier first time laying could be part of it. Plus, she had two other auctions for runner ducks that were like 24 and 36 pus extras so I was wondering how long they sat out before shippment. IDK, I sent her an e-mail asking her what she thought.

Here's Fred, my Pekin duck. When we first got him we didn't have a kiddie pool or anything and so he just sat all day in the water bowl. He wouldn't let the chickens drink, it was his own personal "pond"

Hi!
I don't have picks of mine but i will try if it clears up. It has been overcast for the past 2 weeks almost

. But i got 3 duckling to start out with i got from a friend, 2 Cayugas and 1 Pekin. They are about 4 months now but i only have 1 Cayuga now since the other did a month ago. It was as if he had little man syndrome cause when he turned about 8 weeks of age he never grew he always stayed small then past away...But now i have 1 Pekin (Aflac), 1 Cayuga (Shadow) , and 1 Indian Runner/ Blue Swede mix ( Runner) i got from a friend. I would be interested in the duck eggs since i myself have only incubated Chicken , Quail, and Turkey. I am also going to be getting a new bator soon so these could be the first batch if i win. I want to get some eggs but couldn't find any mix breed duck eggs for hatching here in Alaska. I only found Pure Breed and i would rather have mix breeds cause they won't look the same. The mixbreeds will all look a little different.

Hi Becca! I was worried about introducing new ducks also. When the babies got old enough i set them up in a pen by the older ducks so they could see each other but not get to each other..finally after a few weeks, i just let them all in the yard together and they get along fine. They'll usually work out a pecking order. just like chickens. that what it seems like to me anyways..

Cute pics! What kind of ducks are they?

Thanks
I have a trio of Welsh Harlequin and a trio of Khaki Campbells and 2 female Cayuga. They live with a pair of young Embden geese. Just hatched Pekins, but they went to live at my neighbor's house.

ETA: I really shouldn't hatch any more.
