Who was the worst teacher you ever or still have?

I still see her....how she is still alive.......my mom went insane on her. Not only did I get the swats, I got the "artistic award" taken away from me as well as did not get to watch a movie that I had brought to school for the other students to enjoy! Instead I had to kneel on the floor in the hallway and meticulously draw these 1", very detailed pictures. THEN color each and every one of them in.

I was kneeling on the floor for 4 hours.

Sister Mary Purification, a Dominican nun that taught us French. She was all of 4'5", long pointy fingers that she liked to jab into your arm as she reprimaneded you, and sprayed when she talked. For years I thought I was bound for Hell because I hated her so much....now I've done so much worse, it pales in comparison!!!!

My 10th grade English teacher pulled a good one..

She was also the cheerleading coach, and all of a sudden there were these rumors flying around that she was threatening to kick one of her white cheerleaders off the team for dating a black guy.

Yeah...I know, right?

I was skeptical until it came out that the teacher's first line of defense was that she wasn't threatening to cut her from the team at all, and that she was just advising her as a friend....as though the team thing was the problem and not the racism thing.

Yeah...I know, right?

Her second crack at it was that it was all taken out of context and that it had nothing to do with the guy being black, and that she was just giving her friendly advice to drop the guy...but wouldn't name a reason.

Mmmmmkay.

I'd love to have heard that conversation.. I knew the cheerleader in question -- a sweet girl -- and she was absolutely devastated by the whole thing. Not angry for being told what to do; not worried about losing her spot.. DEVASTATED that her coach showed that side of herself..

The whole team was thiiiiis close to mutany for a while there..

Yikes.

There were teachers that I didn't like or thought was unfair but none were actually horrible.

There was a vice principal who really was creepy. One of his female students he swatted so hard on the butt that she had bruises. The mom tried to take it to court but, at the time, it was not illegal for a school to spank a middle school aged child. Although it was illegal for a PARENT to leave bruises, just not the school.

This same vice Principal was very creepy. We had rules that girls' shorts had to be so long. I remember one overly sexual young girl who flirted constantly with the principal. One day she was walking in the hall in tiny, tiny shorts with her backside hanging out. This particular VP went out in the hall, along with a male teacher. They were both grinning and leering as she walked past. They stood there until they couldn't see her any longer.

Our middle school ran from grade six, seven and eight, I believe.

I didn't complain because at the time, I don't think that it would have done any good.

People like to believe that teachers give everyone an equal shot, but they're human like everyone else.. My ex MIL taught 6th grade science and she was always talking smack about one little kid or another... Someone in her class was always dumb, lazy, dirty, etc..

My favorite thing IN THE WORLD was when it took me, her daughter, and her husband about 30 minutes to convince her that if she's looking at a map of the US, left is west, and right is east, and that the sun comes up from the east and sets in the west.

She was absolutely convinced that the sun ran west to east.. We thought she just had her directions mixed up, but no...thought it came up in California first and worked its way across the US.

Her husband basically knew she was an idiot, and he was an extremely intelligent guy. I've never heard him laugh so hard, and it wasn't at her per se -- it was the irony of the whole thing.

I mean...she was a science teacher with a Master's degree for Pete's sake!

My fifth grade teacher Mrs. Isadoro. She hit me because I couldn't fix a window shade. I was ten years old for heaven's sake. What would I know about the workings of a window shade?

I agree that they probably shouldn't have given the kid the vaccine without permission, but is it really worth a lawsuit? Did the kid die? Get sick? Suffer any harm? Then let it go. Surely there are more important ways to spend one's time and money. Choose your battles. This one isn't worth getting all worked up about.

Wow, some of those teachers sound like really nasty people! I am so lucky to be unschooled. Hugs for all of you poor tortured students.

Wow!
This whole thread made me feel a lot better. Sometimes I think about personal experiences and just feel like I must have a "victimize me" sign on my back.

Mrs. Collins- 10th grade geometry- I was a very late bloomer and she made comments about my breast size (or lack thereof) in front of the whole class.

CMJ- I've always thought my father was a horrendous parent but I admit your Mom sounds unbelievable.

Is it that these people were all just really unhappy in their personal lives? What makes people act like this? Nevermind that would take up off topic.
