Who's hatching around Jan 10? 1st try, Could use the "moral support!"

I have a baby chick!!!!! It is day 20 and sometime this morning between 8am and 10am I had 2 pip. When I got home from church I have a baby chick!!! And 2 out of the remaining 3 are pipped!!! This is my first time and I am so excited!!! By the way after they have fluffed up and I put them in the brooder, do I give them warm water or just cool tap water? Thanks, Nicola

3 babies woke me up crying last night. The other two pips are still trying to get out. I don't think any of the other 8 eggs have pipped at all. That really stinks, but what did I expect with the bator dying like it did.

I have 4 babies now!! One of the other ones is almost out of it's shell!!

Todays count: 9 out of 10 hatched & doing well. Had scary "umbilical area bleeding" event with #9 (at 3:00 a.m., of course!!), but she (I hope!) is doing VERY well today!!

Egg #10 was questionable on day #18, probably dead. Will give it a little more time then try an intervention.

Edited to add: Final ending to my "hatch story"; egg in question looked like it stopped developing around day 16 or so

, so was a lost cause... All others doing well and are addictively adorable. The itsy-teeny Serama is a HOOT, an absolute TERROR, tries to peck anything shiny, including eyeballs of other chicks (who could sit on and SQUISH him!!!!!), but snuggles & cuddles with my 4 yr old as if he/she OWNS her! Unbelievable that something the size of a half-dollar that is 48 hrs or so old can have this much personality!!!!!

I still only have almost 4

The one that was almost out is still almost out. Not sure what's going on there. It has it's head and wings out, and just laying there peeping. It's probably tired, since it has been pipped since yesterday morning. Still no pips on the other 8 eggs

Not sure what happened there. I candled them all on Friday night, and there were 10 at least that had pipped internally.

I still have one that has a good sized hole in it, just hanging out in there. Once that one hatches I'll take the babies out and check the other eggs.

Hey shelleyd2008 anymore hatch yet? Any pics? Would love to see your new babies! I bet you are just so excited they made it! Suellyn Congratulations on your great hatch also! I bet that serama is just to cute! mazdacrzy glad to hear you are having a great hatch too!

I have 5 now, with one more still thinking about it. If that one hatches it will be the last one. After #5 hatched, there were no more pips, so I decided to candle them and see what was going on. I had candled on Friday, and most of them had pipped the air cell. Of the ones that were left, there were 3 or 4 others that had pipped the air cell, but they were not moving. I candled this one, and it moved!! I went ahead and pipped the shell, since it had been pipped internally for almost 2 days. I figure either way, it may die. So it's not a loss to at least try to help it. I'll get pics tomorrow, I really need to go to bed soon!! I've been up late doing homework, I'm such a procrastinator!! I always wait till the last minute! One of these days it will come back to bite me, but till then I'll probably keep doing it!

Anyway, there are 5 for sure, possibly 6. I promise to have pics tomorrow!!

He's a pic of the 4 in the brooder. There is another one that is currently on my chest trying to dry out, so it will get its photoshoot later!

And just cause they're cute, the 3-week-olds!
