I'm going to be taking mine out of the incubator today when I get home. My 3rd egg didn't hatch. I'll candle it tonight and see if there's any movement (which I highly doubt). Today is day 23, so it would be unusual for it to be that far behind.

I'll post some pics of my babies tonight. KelleyHM, very cute!!

Keep 'em coming!!

I have 19 eggs left in the bator. I'm pretty sure they're all finished. I opened 2 of the d'uccles and they were fully formed and dead. Maybe my humidity was too high? I ran it low for the whole time until day 18 for the orps (17 for the rest), when I heard the orps peeping I upped the humidity (filled the wells) and it stayed real high, like between 80-90. I should have left it low the whole time. I had 8 of 10 orps hatch clean on day 19. I got 5 out of 12 d'uccles, 1 out of 3 ameraucanas, 3 of 10 frizzles and 1 of 2 silkies.
Well I'm grateful for the 18 That I have.

Mine are definitely going to be late. I decided to candle again, since the pekin egg is due tomorrow. Out of 14 total eggs, at least 10 of them have pipped the membranes!!

It will take another 2 days before they hatch, but at least it looks like they are going to!!

Update: out of my 10 eggs... 1 Serama, all 4 Silkies

, 2 "Standard mixes or pures" (??), 2 pipped stanards, & 1 standard not doing much (I was not 100% sure this one was alive on day 18, and the air cell looked a bit small, so we'll see...).

Yay, ShelleyD!!!!!!

!!!!

Turtle1173 & KellyHM.... oooooooo, more Evil Silkies!!! Seems to be quite a few of them hatching this week!!!

!!! Mine are adorable, but I am REALLY confused by their appearance... Are from White Silkie parents, I saw them- were really pretty- 2 hens & a roo who were in a breeding pen separated from all the others. ANYWAY, pretty much expected chicks to look like Turtle1173's but NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!

All have 5 toes, but only one has somewhat dark skin & beak. The others have light skin/beak/legs... I read a thread that said they can darken up (????)
idunno.gif
... Also a LOT of color variation, 2 are kinda "chipmunk striped", one is kinda "2-tone" yellowish with greyish back, and the other is "2-toned" reddish with darker back (kinda like the one in the middle of KellyHM's pix, but more "distinct" division between colors)..... ??? Anyone???

Oh, and the people I got these from were SOOOOOOO nice, I can't believe woulda knowingly given me mixes.. And I am total NEWBIE, could all be within "normal range" or recessive genes, or ???... don't want to say anything stupid or offensive to them!!!!!!! Just kinda want to know...

Grandma_b; I have read that high incubator temps are usually the cause of early hatches.. How is the rest of your hatch going??

Update on my hatch. 21 out of 28 my sons Grey Game hens, two pipped and died. One more pipped. So far 6 out of 7 EE's with the last one pipped. 3 out of 7 RIR's, with two more pipped and one that wasn't fertile. All in all a great hatch with my homemade fridgebator.

So far I have 5 (last I checked) pipped ducks

If you have never hatched ducks before, it is definitely a test of patience!! They take at least a full day after pipping before they hatch!!
