My second chick hatched finally at 6:45pm. Here's a couple "in bator" pics but they aren't very good and the silkies are still "wet".

Keep going everyone!! I hope my 3rd egg hatches, although I'm not feeling very confident, as it hasn't done anything yet and today is day 21.

I just got up from a long nap, guess I was tired from sitting up last night and no pips. Well I finally got 1 pip. Glad everyone else are having some luck. shelleyd2008 I hadn't pipped til now and I will cheer your eggs on with you.

I didn't stay up all night afterall. I did get up twice to check on them and load the woodstove. So overnight I got 1 silkie, 2 frizzles and lots more pips. Even a pip on a d'uccle egg, so maybe today will be the day for d'uccles.

OMG! I was crouched over the bator watching the 3rd frizzle egg hatch. When the shell started to split, I saw bare skin. I'm thinking "that's not good" and "that's odd" then all of a sudden a naked neck pops out! I had totally forgotten there was a chance of that. I gasped! That was funny.

The first d'uccle just hatched too.

Congrats to all with new babies!!!!

Day 19 here, stopped turning yesterday p.m., increased humidity, set up some styrofoam "bumpers" so eggs can stay on side & have some wiggle room to hatch, but can't get knocked TOO much (or bump into each other) if a chick is bumbling around in there...

That's it, I guess. Except for waiting

PS: I am worried about embryo sizes... Silkies & Serama seemed to "fill" egg more than the "standards"... but could still see some "space" around all of them! I thought they were supposed to COMPLETELY fill egg (except for air cell) by the end of day 18!!!????? HELP! Thoughts, anyone???

Good movement in pretty much all of them, though...

That is what had me a bit worried about my silkies too. They didn't seem to fill the egg as much. I have 3 pips and one just hatched so don't worry to much.

Oh, that's too bad. I'm not sure what's going to happen with mine. It seems like some have already pipped the air cell, though I didn't see any bills. But there are yellow areas inside the air cell, and from my last duckling hatch, this tells me that they have pipped. These are the cayugas (supposedly) and they aren't due till Monday. I still think they are BEI's but I'll have to wait and see. I know their heat was not too high to cause them to hatch early, especially with the bator losing temp for at least 12 hours!

On day 18 they won't necessarily be completely full, they are not done growing. Also, depending on where the yolk is, it may look like there is space, when you are really seeing the yolk. At least that's my theory!
