I know it varies, but does this usually happen DAYS or HOURS before pip?

Now what? possibly some peeping?

Me & my 4yr old daughter hovering over them all day.... They tend to move when she sings "CHICK-CHICK-CHICK" at them

Usually they start a few days before. That's why we stop turning them. They wiggle because they are trying to get turned around the right way to pip.

I HAVE A PIP!!!! I HAVE A PIP!!!!

It's my itsy-tiny single Serama egg!!!

Full update: She (I hope) has been rocking like crazy since this morning, and I heard some "peeping" (too cute!) around 8:30 p.m. (don't know if was Serama egg or not, at one point kinda sounded like more than one, one louder, one quieter).. at about 9:00 saw a little "punched-out" looking area on it!! WooHoo!!

My other eggs: 1 Silkie & 4 "Standards" definitely rocking, some more than others, which leaves 3 Silkies & 1 Standard that I haven't seen rock yet.

I know I still have a loooooooooong way to go, wish my eggies luck!!

Nope, nothing here yet. They do rock, but they aren't. I candled again last night, and they are alive, I could see them pushing against the membrane. I think a few of them have pipped the membrane, but not sure. They are for sure trying if they haven't yet. I have 4 that have discoloration on the outside of the shells though. Those probably have died. It would have been awfully late though. There are full sized ducklings in them. We'll see how it goes. The one pekin egg is due to hatch tomorrow, so it should be pipped already. But the bator did die, and the temp dropped, so that probably slowed it down.

I had 14 eggs due to hatch 1/9/09 A few white leg horns, Buff orp., and black astralorps. 5 of the peeps hatched on the 7th a little early one had its intestines on the out side I am not sure why this happened. It died shortly after

. Another hatched on the 8th its healthy and going strong 3 more seem to be hatching today. Wow for my third try this is my first success. Any advice on how to slow the early hatchers down next time would be very welcome.
