Mine will go into lockdown Monday.

I have a barred rock, one blue splash marans, one blue andalusian, one blue hamburg, one brown leghorn, and some golden penciled hamburgs, then a few of my own jumbo brown quail to check my fertility.

I've also ordered some silkie eggs (thank you CJ!). Eep, I love silkies!! And fuzz butts!!

I had 2 pip on day 20, one pip early on day 21 (yesterday), with the first 2 hatching early on the same day, one had issues and was fully hatched late last evening and one pipped very late on day 21. The last one finally hatched this morning and is still drying off right now and dragging his spent yolk sack around behind him

I'd post pics but I'm afraid I'll kill this thread too

Once the last guy is fluffed up and out of the bator (which I really need to clean up and ready for more eggs) I'll post pics in the raising chicks section.

Edited because me and numbers aren't getting along well today

i had at least 5 pips that I could see this morning and at least two chicks in there tonight. Today is day 20.

Well when I went to go lock up the chickens tonight I heard a little peep peep. I picked up mizz broody and she had one little chickie under her!!! When I candled last a few nights ago it looked like I had two that were quitters and two that were still going strong. It was starting to get dark out there so I coundn't tell if any of the other eggs were hatching at all. I'll check in the morning.

I came from school and I went to check on the broody and I heard a chick! so I looked under her and theres one chick!!! then I removed her from the nest to see if the chick was ok and I saw 4 pips!!

I named him/her butterz

it rhymes with Skitz!! wait no it doesn't.... but they both have the "z" at the end!

I have 2 now!!!! the weird thing is that both parents are white and the chick came out black

lol the hen is a White cochin and the dad a mutt, maybe the dad has black on his background

When I went out this morning I had two little chickies. Both of the other eggs have not yet piped but they are moving around! Soon!!!
