Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

@CFellows

OK!! Thanks! I will have to be careful as it looks like we could have an early winter this year

I checked it out "Rept 6000" & read bout it sum more....even to the site....YES!!! I want it...but my man said I have to wait til next month!!
between "His Big Toys" & the farm...too many payments & tight on money for the rest of this month :(
he such a Meanie!!! ((stompin my feet like a child))

So I'll have to get the GQF 1200 Brooder out of the barn to set up for Lock down...so I can still turn my Phoenix eggs in the GQF 1202 incubator,
since they wont b here til next week.

This just AINT FAIR!!!!
Told him "its only $200 bucks & we could take the GQF to RAZ Auction to sell next month"
But he did promise me I would get it next month!!
***Kickin the dirt*** Guess I'll have to wait on my "NEW" incubator!!

i was thinking of getting that one too. I decided on the Genesis hovabator 1588 after reading the LONG thread on the Raptipro 5000...they discussed both. Sounds like a great machine.. They have ALL the tweaks you need to get a perfect hatch..but I DO RECOMMEND you read that thread... they have suggestions for the 2 temp readings (top read different from bottom) and then they have an idea to increase FRESH airflow into the bator for lockdown...since you have a month to wait anyways... go check it out... there was a gal on there that has it all figured out...

Ugh. Didn't see anything in any of the eggs except a blood ring in one. Crap. I hate waiting. I'm going to give it 4 more days an if there's nothing there then I'm dumping the lot of them and starting over in my new incubator. I really think that the high temperatures are what did them in.
there is a blood ring in one of mine too. is that good or bad? all the others have veins

Blood ring = no chick, so bad.

No candling for me yet. Day 10 and day 18. I try to keep my hands out of bator.

We survived showing the hogs yesterday. Today we show chickens, wish us luck!

I had a broody bantam buff cochin due to hatch out yesterday. She was sitting on 6 eggs. Out of the 6 eggs she broke one, two were rotten, one hatched and one that died in the shell. Been keeping a check on her today. The one that hatched was a french black copper maran. She got off the nest and deserted it and it died. If I have anymore hatch from broody hens I will take them away right after they hatch and put them under my heat lamp in my brooder. I have 2 french blue copper marans sitting on eggs due to hatch Sunday and Tuesday. Will keep a close eye on them incase they hatch early.

Aww, so sad to here your news,

Well i put my eggs in on Sunday and now my AC in my house is not working correctly so the average temp in the home is 80 degrees and it's making my bator temp spike to 102!!!! I have lowered it but should i be worried this early in the game? so frustrating man! I had everything perfect and now this. I have had 2 terrible hatches and if this one fails that's it i will not try to do this again what a pain!

I AM PRAYING IT WORKS OUT!

I have an Old GQF & had it outside for the 1st 15 days.
Have to keep adjustin the temp...it bounced 99 to 102...but stayed mostly around 100-101
With the Temps in the triple digets here in Texas....it spiked at 105 one day.
Moved it in my office & still got 8 outta 11 hatched

I think if it stays within the range 99-102...u will b OK

***Crossin My Fingers***

I am going to have to try hatching white eggs. I always have brown, and can never see the veins. I sit in limbo until day 10, if I am lucky.
I have Brown eggs too....& had to get a stronger lil LED flashlight at tractor Supply...bought it cuz it was CAMO!!...lol
But its more Brighter than my others & my MAG is too big, have to cover it with my hand, just leave enough open for the egg to sit.

The best thing I have found for candling eggs is an old slide projector. It puts every thing else to shame!
