Who's Starting the 3-Day-Wait Today?

I have a chirp! Or rather, I had a chirp. It only lasted a few minutes. I hope it's just busy pipping away and can't chirp with its mouth full! I'm so nervous. I can't tell which egg it is. How are so many of you able to tell through the bator windows?

I'm on day 19 in a still air LG. I'm having a terrible time keeping the humidity up. I'm keeping the room at 70% with a humidifier but the gauge in the incubator only reads 35%. All the wells are full *and* I added an extra sponge to hold water. I can only hope that the gauge is wrong - as there is plenty of water available to make humidity!

BTW, I haven't seen any movement yet.

The only way I was able to get my humidity up in my still air LG was to dampen an entire pillow case, fold it and add it to the incubator. It shot up a bit too high, so I wrung it out and reinserted it. Now my humidity is where I decided I want it.

A sponge alone didn't get it up high enough for me, either. Not even close!

Me! I am so nervous about it too. These are the eggs of the hen I los tot the neighbors dog. One was broken and when we took a look we figured the development to date. I hope that we have a few make it!!! She was my favorite hen and I would really like to have her babies.

I only have 12 eggs in the incubator, so it wasn't hard. I took a twin pillowcase and rolled, folded it. It's high rather than wide and long, if that makes sense. I wish my camera didn't just break, or I'd upload a pic. I have paper towel on the other side, as was suggested on this forum. It has stayed really really wet. If I had more eggs I'd use just paper towel, since it's compact and keeps in the water. I have a straw placed above it, through a vent hole, so if I have to add water I can drip it in, but I don't anticipate having to.

On all my other hatches, I've had trouble getting the humidity up so this time, I added water liberally and now I can't get it down! It was at 88 and I got it down to 82--I'm currently waiting for an answer to a post I just posted wondering if I should open it or let it go...I was just staring in the windows and I saw one of my eggs roll a bit from side to side! So exciting but nerve-racking, too wondering if they're going to make it???

I just saw your other post and it looks like you were getting support and sensible advice. Mine shot up to 80 and I had to lift windows to drain out water, more than once. The heat didn't escape as I feared (possibly I have the humidity to thank) and I was able to lower the humidity 10 degrees. On the bright side, I have my first pip and at least 3 rocking eggs!
