Well, keep us all posted! What did you order?? They will be OK.

They are my first chickens... I ordered 2 barred rocks, 1 partridge rock, 1 australorp, 1 golden buff (golden comet, etc) and 2 faverolles. I am especially nervous for the faverolles because I've read that they are sometimes more fragile as chicks. I know they won't be show quality but that's okay with us as they'll be pets. I've been trying not to let the chicken math get to me, as our coop will be 4' x 8' and I don't want to crowd them if they all make it to adulthood (I desperately hope so but I know sometimes nature has other plans).

How many did you order?

I ordered one set of 25..I really did not want that many but we went to a few feed stores and no one really had a selection....and then I couldn't decide on what to get...I have never had them myself but grew up around a lot of people who did...so..I decided to invest in this whole "experience" for the boys. I have 3 teens still at home, one with severe ADHD one with Aspergers so we home school and everyone has been so looking forward to this.

I have just never been so nervous about anything in my entire life..and I am a ballsy girl.

My sleep has been non existent since ordering..all my free time goes to reading / designing coop / brooder / collecting supplies / changing plans / etc.. I AM A FULL FAT MESS!

This is my black white crested polish, we named her Stupid. Please don't give me a hard time about the name

it suits her, we love her! But not very bright, very friendly and social, just not the sharpest tool in the shed!

This is one of my EE's, she has not been named yet. The picture doesn't show good but she has the biggest muffs on her cheeks!

This is one of my Jersey Giants standing with my Mille Fleure Duccle Roo named Cocky! He earned his name the very first minute he was put in the brooder, from the first second he took the place over, running over other chicks twice his size and basically running rampant! Pay no attention to the poop on the counter behind him, the camera made him nervous

GiddyMoon, I know what you mean! I ordered mine in January but the last month I was reading constantly about brokered and chicks. I've had chickens for a while but the youngest I got them was 2 months old.

Cute pics Sorin, and I understand your name for your chick..we have a retarded cat. I know people who are trying to ban the word retarded now becuase of how some people use it to hurt human beings..well, it is a legit word..if we ban that, we also have to ban stupid, fat, ugly and on and on..LOL And I even have 3 kids on the Autism spectrum and it doesn't offend me..she is a cuty though..but yea..something doesn't look right. LOLOL

I am so tired..reading, reading..planning, thinking, watching craigslist like a hawk for supplies..this better make me stronger, becuase of it doesn't..it will be the death of me!

lol It's actually unusually warm today..I just turned the air on cause it hit 83 in here. I ADORE Tucson. I was raised in CA my entire life and felt I could not longer watch that state fall apart..had to get my kids somewhere better. My BIL moved out here decades ago and over time most of that side of the family all came out from CT too. I never thought I would love it this much..and really..the heat is not that bad compared to what I am used to. Thankful to be here but it has been a rough starting over...this is a great project for us..but it can get so expensive..just hoping I am ready..PRAY FOR ME! LOL
