Why are all the hatcheries sold out of turkey? Edit: I got my pair!!!

This time of year is the time to look for started birds from people who bought a full order and now realize that a whole bunch of turkeys take up a lot of space, so they want to sell a few juveniles.

There hasn't been anything close enough on my Craigslist, but I put up a want ad for one or two. I have always loved Turkeys, had them for pets as a kid and want to have them again. It's a miracle the husband caved in. The Silkies I can get away with, but I've been bugging him for a turkey for years.

I ended up finding a very nice lady selling a ton of lovely turkeys! One is a Narragansett (I think) (the hen) and one is a bronze (the tom). They are very feather picked, there were 20-30 in each pen and there was not much room for personal space. I imagine when they molt next, they will be so pretty! I love them already. They are in temporary quarantine digs, but will have abigger area shortly. The hen's name is Turkey Lurkey, because she always lurks behind me when she thinks I'm not watching. The tom's name is Senor Gobbles. He's pretty aloof. They're supposed to be like 4 months old I guess. Bad photo, but I haven't wanted to bother them too much until they settle in. I'm so excited though.
