Can I just say that they are excellent egg layers, docile and friendly (good roosters) dual purpose birds and lay in Winter (when not moulting)? Hardy heritage breed. Huge eggs.4-6 a week per hen. What breed are they, they're beautiful. No, no, don't tell me . . . my list is long enough, lol.
We get about 10 hrs of light a day in Winter and apparently it's enough for them. My mature hen laid her first egg after moult on the Winter Solstice!! I love them.
