The Easter Egger was a day-old chick when I got her and my Lavendar Orpingtons were a couple of weeks old. I switched them to layer feed at about 4 months old. Yes they get dusted regularly. We have rabbits and skunks in the area I have never seen a stay cat or dog in 5 years. They get along and are even protective of each other.Did you get these chickens as chicks, and raise them yourself? OR did you get them a bit older, and go from there?
How old were they when you switched them to layer feed, and why?
Have they been dusted for mites?
Have they been wormed?
Are there predators around their coop at night. Yes, you mentioned living in the city, but even in the city there are cats, dogs, and possibly raccoons.
Is there squabbling, or do they get along for the most part?
We had rain the other day so they have a bit of mud on them.definitely don't look like they are POL-not red enough at all.
also, tail and chest feathers look off-almost like a molting or mites or some sort of vitamin problems (just thinking out loud, not diagnosing)
We don't have snakes or raccoons in my area.Snakes or Raccoons most likely.
the torn/frizzle look on their tails is from mud?We had rain the other day so they have a bit of mud on them.
yes when it rains their run area gets very muddy I just have to clean her off.the torn/frizzle look on their tails is from mud?
