Why are my hens attacking our only new rooster?

Oh wow, so just do what I said before. If that doesn’t work... I would rehome him or cull him and get a new rooster
He is really nice and not very aggressive. Lets say he goes into the coop, another hen goes after him and tries to attack and he runs away. That is just crazy.

Oh ok, idk what you could do besides what I told you. If that doesn’t work maybe build him a new pen and get some new ladies for him. Or whatever girls are nice to him

You did right then. Maybe separate them and try again in another week.
And what's gonna make a different outcome?
Every time you reintroduce its gonna be the same thing again.
Do it once and let them work it out. If it gets bad and someone's gonna get serious injuries remove for good because it will never work.
Holding hands through a fence for a week is not needed IMO.

There was blood already. Why make them get hurt more? She/he should take it slow

The thing is a little blood, means they had the battle and stopped. If you pull the rooster then, they forget him, put him back in a week later - new battle. It would be better to go down there with a high powered squirt gun, or a broom. And use that to break it up if it gets wild.

But separating birds often times, causes a lot of problems. Slow is not always better, often times it just drags it out into a try, stop and repeat.

there are some valid thinkings here but I feel it helps if they know one another a bit first.

If you just throw in a new cock they won't know if it is an intruder they should be chasing away or if he is a friend and if they do fight they are more likely to inflict more serious damage than if they know him a bit already.

But I also agree the main fight has taken place, they have settled for now so observe and judge is my advice. I'd try to leave them if possible as separating them will cause another fight again but sometimes seperating has to be done if fighting continues too much.

Read my whole post, dear.

Another thing, do I remove my special needs chickens from the rooster and other hens? We have a chicken with a broken leg and another that is blind. They are so vulnerable that they can't move around that good.
