I realize that it seems op is ignoring a request for pictures, but it crossed my mind that they may not know how to post pics? Yes they could ask how to do so, but still---

OP posted a photo of a peacock chicken hybrid earlier this week. They also claim to have been here since 2010 on another account.

No. This is white rock chickens. Not a peacock.

Rocks are considered a dual purpose breed. But are one of those used to cross with Cornish.. to draw out the size of the rock with the growth rate of the Cornish.. to meet today's demand for cheap fast meat. Any of today's fast growing meat birds harvested around 6 weeks old regardless of gender is called a Cornish game hen.

I'm not sure which way you meant that, but the "growth rate of the Cornish" is really pretty bad, if you're dealing with pure Cornish. They grow slowly.

So the cross gave the fast growth rate that Rocks have, and the wide breasts that Cornish have.

Things do get cross wired in brain sometimes, and that was a perfect example of such.

I'm going to leave it as posted originally instead of going back to correct or edit it.. Even those of us with the best of intentions.. get it wrong sometimes!

But the BYC community comes together to get it right!

My guess is it's supposed to be a reference to the breed type or intention of the bird.. layer, meatie, both, etc.. and not an accurate description of maturity level or onset of lay. Basically semantics or general terms.

But now that I see what you quoted.. I do remember seeing and wondering about that.. hence the question about current age.. But also feeling ghosted by the OP.. Ah well.. so much for one of my favorite games.. guess the breed/gender.. It's fun while it last.. there are others who still wanna play!

Anyone who hatches and raises birds usually gets about half boys.. Not letting them terrorize flock members, each other, or myself with excessive crowing and overcrowding.. IS the right choice for my land, my household, my flock etc.. IS the HUMANE thing to do, according to MY perspective. Life is a very finite thing and it always comes to an end no matter the size and sometimes too soon. I don't like it, but I accept it. I also have seen slow painful deaths and denounce that at all costs possible.Maybe even value LIFE that much more. All are treated well with respect, kindness, and care. They have great lives then will be dispatched with one moment that's over before they can process the idea of pain. and fed to the feral barn cat, composted, or whatever is deemed appropriate at the time if they're too small for pot. It has taken a whole lot of animal adventures and a VERY long to time with way to much loss and heartache along the way.. to reach this level of acceptance in my life! I'm sorry if it makes you uncomfortable or even sad.

The OP is likely a troll, there was another thread where they were claiming they were a chicken vet, then went on to say that they had a chicken vet prescribe some things for them.

Jokes on them since we got plenty of good interaction out anyways!

That being said sometimes folks go quiet when life goes off the rails.. Hopefully they are okay and otherwise juts getting a good laugh.
