Heck, just get yourself a new chicken coop and cram it with bantam Cochins. So all of this means I should just get an incubator... and possibly a bantam cochin?

I had darks, buff and light brahmas. I am thinking environment, genetics and more go into IF they will go broody.
If I could, I would. I actually need to build a new coop. I can just do a huge one and get more birds.Heck, just get yourself a new chicken coop and cram it with bantam Cochins.
I have a friend whose grandpa had a game hen who was broody for a year straight. One of the other hens babysat for the hen while she was out, so, yeah, game birds are serious broodies.I’ve also read that game hens are fierce and constant broodies, but game birds aren’t my thing.
Good luck, but be careful what you wish for. A broody hen = no eggs for 7-8 weeks (3 setting and 4-5 rearing). And the BCM broody of mine is the one that lays the darkest chocolate egg. Which it could be one of my others.
I can't believe Silkies haven't gotten a mention yet. How did I forget? Not to intrude on your conversation but I’ve heard Silkies are pretty good brooders. I haven’t had any personally but my neighbor’s are very good broody mamas.
You're not intruding! Thanks for putting in your two cents. I've thought about Silkies, too, but I don't know how they do in 100+F degree heat. Not to intrude on your conversation but I’ve heard Silkies are pretty good brooders. That is pretty funny, lol.I can't believe Silkies haven't gotten a mention yet. How did I forget?
