Why can a broody......

EDIT- Are there broody pills that I can give to my chickens to get them to go broody or something?

No. They either are or aren't.

Augh, I knew I should've gotten a cochin, and now I have too many to even consider getting more.

My giant cochins NEVER went broody either. Just my tiny black cochin. That and every black Australorp from Strombergs.

They certainly can. But it depends on your birds.
I've had a fair amount of BO. I've only had one not go broody, and she's only a year old.
I have one that's broody right now, after two weeks break. Buff Orpington are known as a broody breed.
So really, it just depends on your chickens. Could you induce broodiness by having a bunch of fertile or nest eggs under her? I'm hoping so.

Ah, poop. I'll have to email McMurray about putting the Light Brahma in the broody category. They were the only ones available at the time, however. Can Buff Orpingtons go broody easily?
The broodiest hatchery chickens that I had were the White-laced Red Cornish. This cross between a White-laced Red Cornish and a Light Brahma was the best and most frequent automatic Incubator I ever had.

People have had success leaving eggs in the nest, but I haven't tried it myself. Flip, I've enough broody hens in my coop without trying.
Just give them time.
Light Sussex are a good broody breed.
