Why Did I Do It? Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

chicmom, I just realized you won eggs from the same seller I'm drooling over right now. Ugh, I need 3 more hen houses! (and at least that many more incubators)

I just set eggs last night too....

I'll bet she will list the eggs again one of these days. Did you notice that a someone listed chicks that hatched from that same member's eggs for sale today?

The chicks are darling!

I bet I know who you bought your eggs from.

I've bought from the same person..I'm thinking. This person I'm thinking of, is great to work with, and the eggs are always fertile! I bought some bantams this last spring..and I now have a beautiful black girl that started laying in the summer, and just went broody. I'm so excited, because, well, ummm, yeah, I guess I can say on this thread, I bought more eggs!

It was perfect timing. They should come tomorrow, then I can put a few under her. I actually have two different breeds of eggs coming.

Oh, I bought mine from Fattie. (I don't believe it's a secret....) She packaged them so well, I couldn't believe it. And they were all perfect, plus FOUR extras......I have a feeling I'm going to have a good hatch......I just happened to add three more eggs from my bantam Frizzle roo and my smooth bantam barred polish hen........I don't know how fertile they are, I just thought, what the heck, I'll put them in....So....19 eggs!

What in the world will I do? That will more than double my flock!

I know I can't stop either I just bid on some more eggs too. For the NY day hatch I was only going to use what eggs I had on hand now I have arranged 2 different shipments and I'm doing the egg swap. I'm outta control. DH did say I could put chickens in the basement if I needed to this winter. Bless him

No, I'm looking at the egg auction that Fattie has right now. I didn't see the chicks. Great, I'll have to go look for them now!

(I can't bring myself to do live animal shipping though so that purchase is one that I don't have to think on)

Problem is the Serama eggs in my incubator now go into lockdown on Tuesday. If I bought the Cochin eggs from Fattie they'd arrive probably Wednesday. I'd hate to be opening my incubator during lockdown to put new eggs in, turn them, etc. and the humidity would be really high for eggs just being set. But I messaged her and she said she didn't know if she'd have anymore auctions for awhile because her hens had slowed down laying. Ugh, what a dilemma!

Well, Saturday will be lockdown for the bantam cochin and polish bantam frizzle eggs..........

How has everyone else doing with their incubating?

I set 20 Bantam Salmon Faverolles last night along with six bantam BB reds for a friend.

Everyone around here (my wife) thinks I am crazy.

And made arrangements last night to buy another used incubator from a lady at Church.
It doesn't have a turner, but that can be fixed...

This will be my first hatch from this recently purchased flock, I am curious to see what candles
out next week!

Even being in Indiana I have had good luck with brooding chicks in the winter. I ALWAYS use
two lights in the brooder in case one goes out, it happens more than one would think.
