Why did my broody hens eggs stop developing

Oh I missed the barred rock part. My apologies. If the eggs are large she might not have been able to keep them covered well. I know 2 of my chickens lay extra large to jumbo size eggs. Can you tell if the is plenty of nesting material under the eggs or are they in direct contact with the bottom of the nest box?

She’s covering them good and she has pushed the hay to The edges of the box so the eggs have been touching the bottom of the box

A few things could have played into it as others have said. I'm thinking if the nest area was large enough to allow all the eggs to lie flat she wasn't able to keep them all warm. The three that survived were just lucky when she would move them the remain viable.

What I'm picturing is if you take 10 eggs in a single layer and put them on the counter then placed a football on top of them versus if you took 10 eggs single layered and placed them in a bowl with a football. The curve of the bowl will still allow contact with the football.
