Why do chickens shed intestinal lining?

I have been seeing a few posts asking about Coccidiosis. I have only had to treat my chickens once back in 2015.

I was just out in the coop doing an evening poo scoop and noticed a poop with light pink / pale pink. That puts me on RED ALERT I know it was one of the new chicks, but because I dont know who did it I will be keeping a very close eye one them and watch /look very closely at the mornings poop.
I may even change out the water in the morning and treat all the chickens with CORID for 5 days, then follow up with Rooster Booster.

Since then, 2015, there are links to very good info. put up by @casportpony
