Why do my Australorps look so different?

If Cupcake were an australorp roo she would look very different by her now 18 weeks. Cupcake is a pullet and looks like she is going to give you some nice brown eggs soon. I have one almost 18 weeks that looks just like her developmental wise. Love the stinkeye btw!
Bourbon is also a pullet just not as developed as Cupcake....give her a couple weeks and she will catch up. Some of my BA hens have more developed combs that others at same ages and some just end up with smaller combs.
I would bet an omelet yours are both girls.

I couldn't convince Cupcake to turn sideways, but she doesn't have saddle feathers. Her profile view (feathers and tail) looks exactly like Bourbon. Thanks everyone!

Well, it might be a good idea to name a roo "Cupcake". Roos tend to live up to their names. I have a friend who got a free roo from a craigslist ad. His name was "Ragamuffin". She didn't think that was a very manly name, so she renamed him "Spartacus". Unfortunately, Ragamuffin morphed into a Spartacus and had to go to the great stew pot in the sky when he wouldn't stop attacking her DH.

do you really think so? I have a 17.5 week old BA pullet that is easily as developed if not more developed than Cupcake and I never even considered she could be a he.... I think Cupcake looks like a pullet...

I have 5 BA's all on the same hatch, some are more mature than others, some look like cupcake and the rest look like bourbon.
