I started with two sabastopol with curly feather on their back. This pair is the parents of all of my other geese. They hatched a few goslings and I kept two which needed up having smooth feather. I have no idea why. The children of the original hatched a few eggs and these goslings ended up having beautiful curly feather. So I was wondering why some have curly feather and some have smooth feathers. Is it still a Sebastopol if it has smooth feathers. They look like Sabastopol in every other way.

the first and second pic it of the father and the last pic is of the children.

I don't know the genetics behind it, but I do know that they come in both a curly and smooth variety.

Since you bred two curly together and got smooth offspring my guess would be that each of your curly parents has both curly and smooth genes and the smooth gene is recessive and the smooth offspring have two copies of it.
