Why do people get so worked up about eating a fertilized egg?

I have a question about that TennesseeTruly. Was there only parts of the chick that formed of was it a really small chick?

google "Balut". These eggs aren't offensive everywhere...

I never asked. I don't think she wanted to remember. She was completely grossed out. She also freaked out when I told her that I was getting chickens. She told me that they would multiply from a dozen to 600 in 3 years. LOL

The very first egg we got from our RIR - I didn't know just how long it had been out there, but knw it could have only been a few days. I cracked it open and it looked normal, but there was a tiny black spot hooked to the yolk. I couldn't tell what it was but figured it may have been a chick if allowed to go longer. Is that correct. I haven't found one like that since.

A meat spot is a bit of tissue from the hen's reproductive tract, just like a blood spot is from a burst blood vessel along the way. If you had a chick, there would be red veins all over the yolk, not just an embryo.
