why do some chicks do this?

I tried using a rabbit waterer, and they actually started using it xD but i left the normal waterer in there for a lil while, until most of them figured it out. by then, the ones that didn't figure it out, watch and learn from the others

One of my bottles was an old one and it did had a small leak, so I just went out and got a new one.....0 leaks thus far....and 0 leaks on the 2 gal jar with the nipples...

I just got my auto water cup and am setting them up with SoBe bottles. (the kit I got: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280684429755&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT ). I cut off a couple inches of tubing, attached just the cup into the tube, used a 1/2 inch drill bit to put a hole in the plastic bottle and inserted the tube (I had to wiggle the bit around to make the hole big enough to fit the tube) then caulked it in place. I hope my chickies take to it next week. When I am ready to move them to the coop, I can just remove the cup only and attach to the tubing and bucket.

my girls are no longer needed a light so I put the waters on a brick of wood at one end of the brooder and the feeders on the other end. It seems to stay slightly cleaner being away fro teh feeder but I am gonna try the nipple bottle today since i have one laying around!

WOW! You guys gave me some wonderful ideas! I had planned on buying a rabbit/hampster water bottle the next time I went to the store but until then, I am going to start raising my chicks water container. Thanks everyone!
