**Why do you LOVE you chickens?**

My signature says how many I have...give or take

I love chickens because:
1.They have taught me patience...from waiting the 21 days to pip, from waiting to see what gender they are,from waiting to see how they feather out, from waiting to see what color/size of egg...
2.They make me laugh
3.There is such a variety of colors to choose from
4.They're friendly
5.They live outside...(for the most part)
6.They put THEMSELVES to bed!
7.They give me a reason to have to get up earlier so as to care for them
8.They turn my compost for me
9.They have demolished the bug population in my yard
10.They mow my grass and eat the dandelions
11.They fertilize my yard
12.They eat my left overs
13.They add enjoyment to my yard and my life
14.They teach my kids responsibility
15.They have the ability to pay for themselves
16.They don't require tons of space
17.They give me sustenance with eggs and meat
18.The chicks are ADORABLE

19.They are photogenic!
20.They bring other peoples children enjoyment

I'm sure I could think of more but I think you get the idea...I'm totally addicted

It would have to be everything but one because I am actually allergic to the dust in their feathers but they are great allergy therapy for me. I take my meds go out and play with them and I only sneeze a little

I love chickens because chickens are chickens. They don't presume to be something they are not. You can always count on a chicken to be a chicken. Chickens are beautiful in simply being chickens... similar to the way a flower is beautiful simply by being a flower....

I love coming home and getting my girls out to free range, especially on days like today.....they are my stress relief....and that's my number one reason for loving them. Calming.

i love it that i finally have a sweet roo who knows his name and talks to me

and my oldest girls who just chatter and tell me all the major chicken life events of the day

(or are they cursing me out because the dog was driving them crazy all day barking at the dogs next year )

I love my chickens b/c they are like therapy for me. I love just sitting on the porch, watching them peck in the grass. I love that they run up to me as soon as they see me to see if I have a treat on hand, and if I don't, I usually go find one b/c they are so cute. They relax me and make me happy, even when I'm sad or I don't feel well. I love how SOFT they are. I didn't realize chickens were so soft!

I have a Black Copper Maran/Cochin mix, 4 Ameraucanas, 1 Black Australorp, 6 mystery chicks, 1 Silver Laced Polish, 1 Ameraucana/Cochin mix, one Ameraucana/? (I think Speckled Sussex) mix, and one Ameraucana/? mix.
