Why does my dog have diohrea?

Totally right...but always interesting to see if you can find a cause or a probable cause..

ETA: If you live in Cumbria UK then I have no idea what kind of plants or bacteria that could cause regular boughts of diarreah in your dog.

His tablets? There are no tablets I am aware of that keeps them safe for 3-6 mos. Can you give a drug name?

The intermittent problem could be anything from parasites to baterial or protazoal infection to colitis or IBD.

Is your dog current on it's shots. Have you dewormed him. Kinda sounds like geardia which is an anternal aprasite that anilmals get get from other poo. Iwould say the red you found was probably an iritation in his bowels. Have you also felt for any lumps you can do that by taking both hands just past the rib cage and firmly run them inwards to feel if anything is stuck.
Good luck but if it continues I would take him to the vet like it was said before.

If he's eating and drinking normally and acting himself, I would start with taking a fresh stool sample to your vet. The fresher the better, but most tests can be effectively run on samples as old as 12 hours. Also, an abnormal stool (the nastier the better) is more likely to show parasites or bacteria than a more normal looking stool.

I don't know what deworming tablets you are using, but there is no oral medication in the world that stays in the body for 3-6 months. The tablets you are using may recommend re-dosing them every 3-6 months, but the medication itself is gone within 24-48 hours. Also, there is no single deworming medication on the market that will treat all of the intestinal parasites that your dog may be exposed to. So, even if you are deworming him on a regular schedule it is still very possible for him to have picked up worms and for that to be the cause of the diarrhea. The fact that you have a new dog in the home makes parasites even more likely as she could have brought them home with her.

Carrots and tomatoes are unlikely to cause diarrhea if he is eating them regularly. And they won't cause an obstruction. Tennis balls and clothes pegs however could cause an intestinal obstruction! If he's vomiting, not eating well, and/or lethargic and you suspect you are missing something along the lines of a tennis ball then he needs to see the vet right away as an obstruction is deadly if not treated.

well the last tennis ball he ate was a few month back, he was sick the other day but that the only time in about 2 month he eats but wont eat dog food he just sits and begs for human food then if he gets it he will eat as much as he can get

cut out the human food entirely. Grease and spices are two easy causes for diarrhea.

Start him on a feeding schedule. Pick a good, high quality food and stick with it. He will put up a lot of fuss, but he will be better for it in the long run.

Use pieces of kibble for training treats and rewards. Put his food down at dinner time and leave it for about 20 mins. If he hasn't eaten, pull up the bowl until the next time. How old is he? I'd offer it at least 3X a day until he starts eating.
DON'T give any other treats, esp human food! He will grab those tidbits and hold out, hoping that you give in and dish out the good stuff.

well yesterday i was told that so i changed him the other day and got him iams and he ate some and today i was walking him and expected a diarea and he had one and i looked and it was normal!
