Why does my dog have diohrea?

Ok my dog has diareah, he is wormed every month or two, could it be the food im feeding him th elittle grump of table scraps, treats? and i think he may have a sensitive stomach if so what food should i give him when he has a sensitive stomache?

because he has it again and hes been checked for worms and everything so i just wondering what food i could give him? is there a problem with that?

No. It just helps if you add that kind of pertinent information.

If you're thinking he has a sensitive stomach, then do not give him any table scraps, at all. That's a good place to start.

This may be a strange question, but when the dog has diarhea (sp?) does it stink, I mean beyond the normal dog poop stink? The only reason I ask is because an off smell could indicate some sort of infection, like a bacteria. I know a friend whose dog was having issues with that and the vet said there was a bacteria going around and the dog probably ate something that had it on it, like grass, other animals feces, etc. It would be really bad then go away, and if they got into it again it might comeback. My dog had trouble because he had a thing for eating my kids socks!! he had to get it out one way or the other,

thankfully he lost that taste, and we hid the socks! There are lots of good dog foods, I personally feed Diamond Brand, and my dogs look great and seem to be healthier for it. Hope you figure it out, and your dog is ok!

while there is nothing wrong with starting a new thread, it's much more helpful to you and to the people offering advise if they see the whole history all in one place (the original thread) rather than starting new ones each time the same symptoms come back.

First off all, get the dog off all table scraps. No more table scraps or treats at all. Get the dog on a premium dog food. By premium, I mean one with no grains at all!! No wheat or corn especially, since those are the two most common offenders. Pick a chicken or lamb based dog food since those are less likely to cause stomach irritation than beef. You said you are deworming the dog every month. Are you doing this because you think you should, or because a vet has said the dog actually has parasites? You may be irritating the dog's stomach by constant deworming or you may not be deworming for the right parasites. No one wormer kills all kinds of worms. Get the vet to do a fecal to see exactly what kind of worms (if any) the dog actually has, and treat specifically for that kind of worm only.

John, it appears there were a lot of unanswered questions on that first thread. There was a lot of advise given, most of which you did not take except for switching to Iams. The suggestion then was to cut out all human treats and get the dog to the vet. Someone also asked about what kind of wormer you were using. The dog's symptoms returned because you did not follow the advise that was offered!

worming him just to be worming him does not keep him safe. what wormer are you using?

I think most of us live in the United States and the foods we have available to us are probably not available to you. what country are you in? I am guessing England? You may just have to go to your local pet store and read the lables. Find one that does not have grains in it.

yes. It's a fairly low-end food for not a low-end price. Try googling "premium dog food" and see what comes up. All dog food companies list their ingrediants on their web sites. If you can't find totally grain free, Brewer's rice is not too bad as far as grain goes, but if you can avoid that too you are better off.
