Why don't we keep eggs in plastic containers?

I have read in a couple different places that if you reuse cartons you should use plastic because they can be cleaned and sanitized. It also read that the paper and styrofoam ones can harbor bacteria. That is why we use plastic and they are holding up quite well....

You ask a question and i answered it to the best of my ability and knowledge. I assumed in a way that i thought explained how a egg doesn't breath.
So it could safely be stored in a air tight container or plastic wrap without harming the egg.
I believe the original question was could you use air tight plastic containers for eggs and i believe i answered that.
What you believe about and egg and whats in it is up to you but theres no need to be rude.

I was not being rude.. You washed your hands of the whole matter in the previous post and I wanted some responses from other people
because I am interested in getting an answer..

Mahonri I learned about this from Gail Damerow's book the chicken health handbook.
I wrap mine for both useing under the hens and incubateing it really helps with the evaporation.
I've been doing this for 7 years and i have a egg in my incu right now that was set when it was 14 days old. It's developeing and should hatch this thursday.
