I definitely think the way some girls flirt is quite rude and obnoxious. Especially when they are blatantly obvious about doing it. I think flirting is more fun when its subtle, and you sort of have to figure out what the gestures mean. I've had a few guys flirt with me over the years (Of course, nothing ever came out of any of them) but I always enjoyed it, but only if it wasn't obnoxious. There is one really strange guy who is constantly after me here at school and the way he flirts is downright annoying. (I would have given him a chance if he wasn't so strange) He takes every little thing I do as flirting with him, even if its completely ignoring him in the hallway!

Deb1, I have a feeling I will be quite flirty when I'm comfortable with a guy, but until then I'll just have to be myself. I can't wait until Monday when I see the guy from photography class again! Its a shame I have to wait so long!

Why flirt? I lived in Germany several years. Women there don't flirt much. If a girl likes someone she simply tells that person so. From a males perspective this is very flattering.

Despite the stereotype, this doesn't work on all men. Yes, men are almost genetically prone to glance at rounded forms. LOL But I know plenty of flat breasted, modestly dressed young women who not only date but are treated respectfully by the male gender.

Besides, if a young woman is naturally modest, why be something that you aren't?

Deb, I agree that there are many women who don't use this technique, I only offered it because it's super easy, and has worked very well for me in the past (before the husband and kids). There are also plenty of women out there who don't wear makeup or high heels (I'm one!), other things that apparently help attract a man. The other thing is Chicker, is to not push it, I don't know how old you are, but really, men only get better with age. I would rather chew off my own foot than date a high school boy... and I felt the same way in high school! feel free to wait a while, and then snag a man who's figured out what he really wants in a woman, and it's not usually what high school boys put first....

Nobody will take me seriously

Its kind of sad because even when I was 18 and out of high school every store I went to everybody would ask why I wasnt in school. And they would truthfully tell me I look like a 13 year old. Its not how I dress or anything. Its because how short and how young I look.

The only upside to it is that I will always look younger.

Congratulations on having the bravado to ask him out! You are exactly right, it is up to him now, and it will be infinitely easier for him. IF something comes of this, great, if not, you will still enjoy his company, because he sounds like a good guy.
