Why is this? (pics)

    These are 2 of my hens. Lilly has the smaller comb and wattle and Shadow has the bigger comb and wattle. My question is why is Shadow's comb and wattle bigger than Lilly's comb and wattle? They are both around 4 months old. Here are some pics.

    It would apprear that Shadow is a boy.

    Hens can mature at different rates. Looks like Shadow may lay before Lily. It could just be that her comb will be larger too.

    I had one hen with larger comb and wattles that I thought was growing into a roo but she laid an egg and that solved it, but I have no idea why, bloodlines I guess.

    Both are pullets.

    Are their combs the same type? Shadow's looks single and Lilly's pea or rose?

    Nope, no roo-like hinkjc said the hens mature at different rates. I've got a group of 6 comets, all purchased the same day from TSC and 4 are laying and 2 are not. 5 have combs and wattles and 1 does not-go figure!! [​IMG]
