Yes, Kane is a long-hair. Both GSDs, from east (sire) and west (dam) german lines. Cousins/brothers, they have the same sire and their dams are full sisters.
Thanks for the compliments. We do love these boys so much.
Interesting how just one dog difference can make one long and one short. Do you know which is dominant? Did the rest of the litters have short/long respectively?
Also Wolfwoman, GSDs can be long haired as well, I think most have shorter hair but there is also a long hair gene, as well as different color and coat patterns and stuff too, I think it really depends on the parents and the particular line as well as genetics.

Hopefully, this info will help you to better understand GSDs and the different variations amoung the coats, also sorry if i sound rude or like a no it all or anything by profiding all of these links and stuff, that is not how im intending come off, my intention is not to hammer this info down your throat or show you how wrong you are or anything like that (you're not), thats not my goal, my goal is to help educate you and help you better understand it, I am by no means an expert, (I find this interesting too, i basically just knew there were different coats and some color patterns and stufff but didnt really know too many details), I just went on google and found some info, so clearly im not an expert, just a person who wants to help you understand it better while learning myself, so hopefully this helps you.
