Why Move From ezboardBYC to BackyardChickens.com Forum?

People ask me why I'd want to move the forum from ezboard over to the BYC main site. They also ask why members should move over here. Ah... where to start?

First off, many of the reasons this board / forum is better are behind the scenes. Also some of the reasons are more important to Cindi (chickchair) than the community as a whole since those features / items make her life easier and give her more control (which ends up being better for the community since if the queen is happy... the kingdom is happy

. That said, here are a few items off the top of my head that make me feel this is the best forum in the world for people who want to talk chicken:

Search Friendly - Search the whole site, not just a single forum or category
Feedback Friendly with features being added (https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=333)
Directly attached to the main BackyardChickens.com website
User Friendly - We won't ever require a forced upgrade (see Yuku)
CC Friendly - She and I talk on the phone about once a week and email almost daily!

I'm not saying this forum is perfect, but it is perfect for BackyardChickens!

If anybody has reason for why they are here I'd love to see them.

I'm assuming that once we get a few more items...that we're going to post this on the ezboard version so the people that NEED to see this do!

2nd...I suggest a link at the top of the EZboard that says something like.....
"The migration has begun- come join us at www.etc. "

Why do I prefer this forum to ezboard? Let me count the ways.....

1. Definately more this user friendly

2. Fast, informative input from ChickenMaster whenever I have issues

3. ChickenMaster respects and considers all inquiries no matter how silly (teapot smiley)

4. Fast, fast, definately fast

5. Still needs some improvement, like chat & more emots, but is being improved unlike others that will never get better

6. Did I mention more this user friendly?

It is so much easier to navigate and easier on the eyes. For some reason, I just don't like the way the other site looks.

Personally there is no way everyone is going to move over until ez no longer exist. Once ez BYC is non-existant then I think the move will be an easier transition. I think too much pressure is being put on members to move over & it's not going to happen while there are two boards. I'll move over when I'm ready or ez no longer exist. I don't have the time to keep adding extra boards to visit. My list of boards is already too long without adding others. JMHO

With all that's been going on, let me clarify a few things:

First, there are matters of opinion and matters of fact, and we need to differentiate between the two: For example:
Fact: This forum has better search abilities than ezboard
Opinion: This forum is more user friendly than ezboard

Some people like this forum better than ezboard (for example, me) and some like ezboard better. Well, that's okay! If people think I'm trying to force people over here, they are misunderstanding me. I'm just anxious about people having what I believe is a better forum experience... I personally really dislike ezboard and really like this forum software better... that's my opinion.

Think about it like this: I really like a movie so I go and tell all my friends how great it is. I may even be so excited I say, "HEY!!! You have GOT to see this movie!!!" You can't force people to see and like a movie... you just share what you like. Well, that's me and this forum.

So, we (Cindi and I) have said this about one hundred and twenty seven times... so here is one more: We are looking out for the overall happiness, helpfulness and benefit of current and future chicken lovers all over the world, and ezBYC is not getting shut down and people aren't being forced to move.

This being said, I'll continue to be very vocal about how much I love this group of people, how much I love this forum software, and how excited I am that the BYC site and BYC forum are together again... those are my opinions and I'm sticking to them!
