Why Organic?

It has nothing to do with "hypocrosy" (sic), it's a matter of common sense and practicality.

Right is right, wrong is wrong. You can never justify doing wrong. If I felt that hybrid seed, fungicides, Bt, rock fertilizers, etc. were wrong, I don't use them no matter what. Let's be honest here, they have options, they just don't like them or they aren't $$$ worth it. It's all about the $$$$.

Just going to put this out there as I am living proof GMO illness. I am allergic to soy...it is in EVERYTHING!!! I urge you, next time you go to the grocery store to read the labels of the common foods you buy (especially pre-boxed or mixes). I started with this allergy in 1997, so why would I be able to eat soy for the first 16 years of my life but all of a sudden have anaphylaxis when I consume it? 1997 was the first year GMO soy was provided for mass consumption to the public. Plain and simple...my body reacted to the new proteins created by the GMO...bad stuff.

Couple of problems here........

1) only 5% of soybeans were GMO in 2000.
2) For the first 4-5 years all GMO soybeans were not allowed into the human food chain without going through meat. They had restricted sales as only mills that guaranteed they went into animal rations could take them. Ag isn't as stupid as some of you think.
3) Soy allergies are fairly common in most people.

The powers-that-be of this forum clearly cater to the Right Wing and Big Ag.

Now this is funny. I could on and on and on with things that are allowed against commercial ag, Walmart, Monsanto, etc, no problems. Challenge organic, better be very careful with how you word things and be able to back them up.

This is a good website to discuss poultry, gardening, etc. Even some controversial subjects until people get upset then go to name calling. Then thread will get shut down.

I agree with you seedcorn.....slamming and insulting conventional farmers and agriculture goes on all the time, but let the organic people and the vegans start whining about something said about them and the thread seems to get shut down very quickly.

I'm Not sure I would go that far. I am probably a member with a star by my name in the mods watch list and I don't always agree with what is posted but I do know how to admit when I am wrong and will usually acknowledge it and state so with an apology. What i won't do is resort to name calling, conspiracy theories and cry to the mods if I lose a discussion. The mods on this site are more than fair and lenient to the members.
