I would like to see your feed set up. Do you have pic you can post. As winter is coming I am trying to figure that dilemma out. Don’t want rodents.

Nothing special at all.
I use a 30# capacity old style metal feeder hung from a screw in hook using a chain.

My coop is big so I have room. The hook is 6+ feet above the floor.

Those 2 things along with some chain the hook will fit through. The handle on the metal feeder can be popped out at one end to slide the chain on.

Oh and it looks like I linked a multi-pack of the hooks. :hmm I am sure they can be bought in smaller packages.

If your group is smaller those feeders come in a 7# capacity too. I use one of those in my smaller coop. Still a tall coop and yes I hang that one up at night too.

My feed is in pvc and I am looking at hanging them so rodents can’t get to them. It would be easy to lower and raise. So I would probably have to usa a 4 point hanging system to help it from moving around too much while they eat. Thank you for showing what you have.

Is your PVC feeder horizontal or vertical?

Thinking just having a cover for the opening would work if vertical and maybe a tube that is a little larger diameter with a slot cut would snap/slide over if it is horizontal.

I only raise mine at night....out of rodent reach.

Horizontal ad one has a bend in it while the other has a spot over it so water doesn’t get in as much from rain. I could use a slide door to raise up over the covered one and a flap over the bend on the other. I’ll check it out. Thank you. Love new ideas.

My feeder is in the coop and they can access 24/7. Yet they still squawk in the morning with plenty of water and food. A pellet block would be a great extra food source for them as you can easily take it in and out of the coop. Their coop and run is very big and has plenty of space to run around and flap their wings. I feel like no matter the space or food they don't stop..

Well, then food and water is not the problem.....Adding any other foods will not cure it either.

How big is "very big" in feet by feet?
Dimensions and pics might help here.

How old are these birds?
Newly laying pullets can be very loud.
And chickens in general can be very loud.
