Why's my rice not cooking?

I have fallen in love with glass lids.

I got mine for like 30$ , but my electric pressure cooker does rice too, that one was a 100$. THe rice cooker only has one button. I cooked Uncle Bens and rice from a bulk bag of asian rice i bought at my commisarry. They come out great as loong as i follow the water rice ratio, which is diff for every brand.

The ratio of rice to water for any sort of "instant" rice does vary from product to product, but with real rice it is always 1 part rice to 2 parts water (or other liquid). Add in about a tablespoon of butter, more if you're making a LOT.

not always. if you cook larger amounts of rice it can change. It also depends if you got white, jasmin, brown, short/long/medium grain.....

Where are all the members from Louisiana? I can't believe the Cajun's didn't jump on this thread. It's been my experience that they can discuss rice cooking for days on end.

You did use "regular long-grain white rice" as the recipe specified right. Brown rice stays kinda crunchy no matter how long you cook it.
